Angela Davis had a hard time believing that she had an ancestor who came to America on the Mayflower.

Davis is known for being a critical race theorist and former member of the Black Panthers.

This became known to Davis during an episode of the show “Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr.”

Davis descended from a European settler who came to the New World on the Mayflower.

She said, “No, I can’t believe this. My ancestors did not come here on the Mayflower.”

“That’s a little bit too much to deal with right now,” she said, finding out that she was descended from William Brewster.

Brewster was one of the 101 people who came to the colonies on the Mayflower in 1620.

Davis was asked if she ever thought that she would have descended from the people who laid the foundation of this country.

She responded, “Never, never, never, never, never.”
