Chicago Elects New Mayor. Here’s What We Know About Him.

It appears the city of Chicago hasn’t learned its lesson despite successfully voting out former mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Democrat Brandon Johnson, who is described by critics as a “radical socialist,” won the election to become Chicago’s new mayor. He defeated moderate Democrat Paul Vallas in the race.

There’s just one problem: Johnson may even be worse than Lightfoot. He has been endorsed and praised by politicians such as Senator Bernie Sanders and members of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s far-left “Squad.”

Journalist Andy Ngo noted how Johnson called for “removing law enforcement from society” during the violent and destructive 2020 riots.

Johnson allegedly defended looters who he said were justified in lashing out against racism.

“It looks like Chicago will be electing a candidate who is even more radical than Lightfoot to replace her,” Kyle Becker of Trending Politics notes.

Attempting to walk back his past claims, Johnson said, “I never said, defund the police.” He said it was merely a slogan and not an actual political policy.

Johnson is accused of lying about his positions in order win more votes.

Violent crime exploded under Lightfoot’s watch, particular in 2021 as some neighborhoods saw over 100% increase in fatal shootings.

The crime wave had played a major role in Lightfoot becoming the first Chicago mayor in four decades to lose a re-election bid.

The incoming mayor also believes in structural racism and seeks “equity” through $800 million more in local taxes to benefit black and Latino communities and reduce crime.

This could be the final nail in the coffin for the once-great city of Chicago. The City of Big Shoulders has shrugged off the prospect of going the way of failed cities like New York, Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco.
