Country star Granger Smith announced that he is giving up his music career in order to serve his church.
Smith says he has dedicated his life to Jesus and the “glory of God.”
The 43-year-old musician said, “I’ve been so nervous to make this video. This summer is my last-ever tour.”
In 2019, Smith lost his three-year-old son, River, lost in a tragic drowning accident.
The tragedy impacted his faith and inspired him to write a book titled “Like a River: Finding the Faith and Strength to Move Forward after Loss and Heartache.”
Smith is ending his music career and named his final tour “Like a River” after his son.
“I have felt a strong desire to pursue ministry, and this doesn’t mean I’m gonna start a church or a crusade or a revival, this means that me and my family are going to serve our local church.”
Smith’s final tour begins in Oshkosh, Wisc. and ends in July.
He currently attends Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he is pursing his master’s degree.
