During its media coverage of President Joe Biden’s visit to the NATO summit in Lithuania, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough claimed Biden was “very sharp” and “on top of everything.”

Scarborough’s vocal support of Biden comes at a desperate time for Biden as polls show the majority of Americans believe he does not have the mental and physical health to serve as president.

“The President is very sharp,” Scarborough claimed. “Some NATO leaders have told me they were very surprised because he’s so sharp and he’s on top of everything.” WATCH:

A poll from NBC found that the majority of Americans (68%) believe Biden does not have the mental and physical health to serve as president.

The poll also found that a staggering 43 percent of Democrats believe Biden is not mentally and physically healthy to serve as president. This concern among Democrats has doubled since 2020. Prior to 2020, just one in five Democrats were concerned about Biden’s mental acuity.

NBC found that 89% of Republicans agree that Biden does not have the cognitive or physicial abilities to be president.

MSNBC’s coverage of Biden’s visit sparked many reactions and comments on social media. “If Biden is so sharp then his minions wouldn’t need to come out and tell us how sharp he is all the time,” one person said. “We can see the facts for ourselves. Stop the gaslighting.”

“Well if Joe Scarborough says it,” another person sarcastically remarked. “Joe Scarborough trying to schmooze the Biden Administration,” a third person joked.

The NATO summit was held in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, and was attended by leaders from all 30 NATO member states, including Biden. The main focus of the summit was the war in Ukraine. Biden and other leaders pledged to continue providing military and financial assistance to Ukraine, and they condemned Russia’s invasion. They also discussed ways to deter Russia from further aggression.

In a speech to the Lithuanian people, Biden reaffirmed the US commitment to NATO. He said that the alliance would “never waver” in its support for its members, and he warned Russia that any attack on NATO territory would be met with “severe consequences.”

Biden also met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the summit. The two leaders discussed the ongoing war, and they agreed on the need to continue providing military and financial assistance to Ukraine.

The NATO summit in Lithuania was intended to show the strength and unity of the alliance in the face of Russian aggression. Biden intended to signal that the US remains committed to NATO and opposed to aggression from Russia.
