Going To Jail? Sen. Rand Paul Just Sent A Criminal Referral to the DOJ for Dr. Fauci

Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky isn’t playing games as he officially sent a “criminal referral” to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for former chief White House medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Fauci is accused of lying to Congress, which is a federal crime, by denying that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) funded any gain of function at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. At the time, Fauci served as the director of NIAID.

In stark contrast, the evidence shows that Fauci and NIAID had, in fact, approved grant funding for gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, including involving coronaviruses.

Unredacted emails from Dr. Anthony Fauci also show his efforts behind closed doors to shut down the Wuhan lab leak theory as an explanation for the origins of COVID-19. At the same time, Fauci had an obvious conflict of interest as the Wuhan lab was receiving funding from the Pentagon and operated as a subcontractor of EcoHealth Alliance.

The FBI and the U.S. Department of Energy now agree the Wuhan lab leak theory is the most likely explanation for the origins of COVID-19. Fauci aggressively denied the possibility of the lab leak theory, denouncing it as a conspiracy theory and waging a public relations campaign to shut it down.

During a heated exchange in July 2021, Fauci insisted he had “never lied before Congress” during prior testimony in May. “You don’t know what you’re talking about,” Fauci told Senator Paul at the time.

Paul graduated from Duke University School of Medicine and was a practicing doctor before being elected to Congress. He provided undeniable proof that NIH funded gain-of-function research, citing a journal article titled “Discovery of a rich gene pool of bat SARS-related coronaviruses.” Fauci still denied the accusation.

In agreement with Paul, Senator Ted Cruz said, “I believe Dr. Fauci has lied to Congress, which is a felony, when he has stated that the federal government did not fund gain of function research in in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

“Dr. Fauci’s behavior on this has been abominable,” Cruz continued. “I think he has done more damage than any bureaucrat in the history of the United States. He has championed policies that have hurt millions of Americans, hurt millions of school kids in particular.”

“And he has also done more to damage the credibility of the United States government when it comes to medical and scientific advice because Dr. Fauci allowed his advice to be politicized,” Cruz continued. “We know Dr. Fauci in writing asked Mark Zuckerberg at Facebook to suppress references to the origin of COVID being from a Chinese government lab.”

“Since then, the National Institutes for Health in writing has contradicted that,” Cruz added. “And if the Biden Justice Department were enforcing the law, they ought to be investigating Dr. Fauci for lying to Congress, which is a federal crime. To date, the Biden DOJ has been too political to hold Dr. Fauci accountable.”
