After Afghanistan Disaster GOP Senator Issues Explosive Statement: ‘Has the Time Come to Exercise the Provisions of the 25th Amendment?’

Florida Sen. Rick Scott has raised serious questions about Joe Biden’s ability to lead and remain in office.

Scott asks whether it’s time to invoke the 25th Amendment.

He writes to Twitter, “After the disastrous events in Afghanistan, we must confront a serious question: Is Joe Biden capable of discharging the duties of his office or has time come to exercise the provisions of the 25th Amendment?”

Ronny Jackson, the former White House physician under both Presidents Obama and Trump, has also said he believes Biden will be forced to resign or will face the 25th Amendment over issues related to his fitness for office.

“Something’s SERIOUSLY wrong with Biden,” Jackson wrote on social media. “And it’s only going to get WORSE! It’s past the point of embarrassment.”

Jackson continued, “He’s lost. He’s confused. He can barely put a coherent sentence together. He MUST have a cognitive exam and release the results!” Jackson added.

Jackson is now a Texas Congressman representing the 13th Congressional District. He said, “And I’ve been saying that it’s only going to get worse, and guess what? We’re watching that happen right before our eyes right now.”

“And I’m at the point right now where, you know, I went from, you know, telling people, we should be concerned about what might potentially be going on, to now saying, hey, what is happening right now?”

“Where are the people in our academic medicine that were out there calling for President Trump to have a cognitive test? Where are these people?” Jackson asked.

“There’s something seriously going on with this man right now. And you know, I think that he’s either gonna, he’s either gonna resign, they’re going to convince him to resign from office at some point in the near future for medical issues, or they’re going to have to use the 25th Amendment to get rid of this man right now. There’s some serious stuff going on right now.”

Jackson concluded that “this is a national security issue at this point… it really is.”

The Biden administration’s failure to understand the movement of the Taliban and provide effective preparation with the Afghan government has had horrifying consequences.

U.S. troops have been under fire, at least twice, while at Kabul’s Karzai International Airport, the NY Post reports.

At least 12 people were killed at the Hamid Karzai International Airport since the Taliban takeover began, Reuters reported.

Startling footage and images showed Afghans storming Kabul’s Karzai International Airport and attempting to cling to departing planes. “Thousands of Afghans have been filmed desperately chasing after and clinging to a US Air Force plane as it taxied down the runway — with multiple people plunging to their deaths after the aircraft took off in the frantic attempt to flee the country after the Taliban takeover,” the report adds.

Trump has called on Biden to resign from office “in disgrace.” Trump said, “What Joe Biden has done with Afghanistan is legendary. It will go down as one of the greatest defeats in American history!”

One young man, identified as “Reza,” died at just 17 years old by clinging to a departing plane. His body was recovered without legs or arms, but his family was able to identify him, according to VICE news.

An estimated 10,000 to 15,000 American citizens remained trapped in Afghanistan. Sec. of Defense Lloyd Austin reportedly told members of the House of Representatives that Americans are in fact being beaten by the Taliban in Kabul.

An additional 6,000 Britons are also trapped inside the country. The UK’s Parlament has held Biden in contempt over the botched withdrawal of troops in Afghanistan, calling it “catastropic” and “shameful.”

The Taliban has reportedly set up checkpoints and they are beating people attempting to reach the airport in order to evacuate.

More from Western Journal:

It’s an interesting proposition, especially considering we heard so much about the 25th Amendment in the days following the Capitol incursion in January — with leftists proving they weren’t above the idea with mere days left to go in the Trump presidency.

Democratic Rep. David Cicilline of Rhode Island even went public with the demand at the time on Twitter.

Now Republicans have their shot at invoking the amendment, which states that if two-thirds of both houses of Congress determine “the president is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office,” the vice president shall assume power in his place.

The amendment affords the president a mechanism to challenge accusations of ineptness, however, by “[transmitting] to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”

However, even during the Trump era, the Congressional Research Service noted that “the section was not intended to facilitate the removal of an unpopular or failed President,” especially considering any invocation of the amendment might arguably “precipitate a constitutional crisis.”

To break things down a little further, NPR noted, “The language of the amendment says if the vice president and either a majority of the executive Cabinet or a review body appointed by Congress declare in writing that the president is unfit for office, then the vice president immediately becomes the acting president.”
