Hollywood Star Gary Busey has been accused of potential involvement in a hit-and-run collision in Malibu.

A statement by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department provided to USA TODAY said Gary, age 79, was alleged to have collided with a vehicle in the afternoon of August 30th whilst driving a blue Volvo.

The driver involved reported, “he refused to stop after the collision occurred and refused to provide proof of registration and financial responsibility.”

The collision happened on the 23000 block of Pacific Coast Highway, nearby the Malibu Pier.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.

In a TMZ video showing the events following the alleged collision, the driver who accused Busey caught up to, and even confronted them after being rear-ended.

“Sir, you hit my car. I need your information,” the driver yelled.

Once the driver catches up with Busey and gets out of the car, the “Legal Weapon” actor simply says he is covered by “Progressive Insurance” and drives off.

The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station encourages anyone with relevant information about the incident to contact the Traffic Investigations Office at 818-878-1808.

Busey has found himself involved in more than one legal issue in recent years.

In 2015, the LA County Sheriff’s Department reported that Gary had backed into a woman and injured her while leaving a shopping trip in Malibu. Injuries were minor, and the woman was released at the scene.

As recent as 2022, a Cherry Hill police report read, “Busey, 78, was charged Friday with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, one count of attempted criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment at the Monster-Mania Convention in New Jersey.”
