Tony Dungy, who is an NFL Hall of Famer and current NBC analyst, made a correction to Disney-owned ESPN after Coco Gauff won her first U.S. Open at just 19.
Disney was recently accused of going “woke” following Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ decision to sign an anti-grooming bill into law. This prevents teachers through grade three from discussing sex and gender with young children without parental involvement.
This action by DeSantis infuriated Disney, which vowed to convert 50% of its children’s cartoon characters into the LGBTQ community.
After beating Aryna Sabalenka, Gauff stepped to the side of the court and knelt down to pray.
ESPN, however, failed to explain that Gauff was kneeling with hands clasped in order to take a moment to pray.
Instead, the left-wing corporation claimed Gauff was taking “a moment to soak it all in.”

Dungy quickly called SportsCenter out, emphasizing the obvious intention of Gauff’s gesture.
“I hate to break this to you SportsCenter but Coco Gauff was not ‘soaking it all in’ at this moment,” Dungy posted. “She was praying. She has been very open about her Christian faith in the past. It seems pretty obvious what she is doing here.”

Gauff hasn’t been shy about sharing her faith publicly.
“Oh my goodness. It means so much to me,” Gauff exclaimed following a Grand Slam title.
“I feel like I’m a little bit in shock in this moment. That French Open loss was a heartbreak for me. I realized God puts you through tribulations and trials. This makes this moment even more sweeter than I could imagine.”
“I don’t pray for results. I just ask that I get the strength to give it my all. Whatever happens, happens. I’m so blessed in this life. I’m just thankful for this moment. I don’t have any words for it, to be honest.”
The only two female tennis players to have won The Open at the age of 19 is now Gauff and Serena Williams.
