Biden Admin Cancels $37M in Student Debt for Just Over 1K People

Roughly 1,200 students who attended the University of Phoenix are having their student loans canceled because they claim the college defrauded and misled them.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is investigating the University of Phoenix for reportedly exaggerating claims that alleged partnerships with top corporations would lead to preference in employment.

The Biden administration announced the deal that handouts $37 million in hardworking taxpayer dollars to mostly young adults who attended the college between Sept. 21, 2012, and December 31, 2014. (Trending: Proof That Joe Biden Took Bribes)

Democrats have gained a reputation for attempting to hand out an endless array of free things, including college tuition.

By canceling student loan debt, it moves would unfairly transfer the financial burden to hardworking American taxpayers.

In this specific case, it’s unclear why taxpayers are coming to the rescue if the college is responsible for defrauding or misleading. The college is a for-profit institution.

In a 2019 settlement, the college admitted no wrongdoing.

“The University of Phoenix brazenly deceived prospective students with false ads to get them to enroll,” Federal Student Aid chief operating officer Richard Cordray said in a statement.

“Students who trusted the school and wanted to better their lives through education ended up with mounds of debt and useless degrees,” he said.

The University of Phoenix responded, “We respectfully, but adamantly disagree with the U.S. Department of Education’s allegations related to the Dec. 2019 University of Phoenix settlement with the Federal Trade Commission,” the statement said. (Trending: Kari Lake Blasts ‘Woke’ NFL)

“While the University is not against relief for borrowers who have valid claims, we intend to vigorously challenge each frivolous allegation and suspicious claim through every available legal avenue,” it said.
