Elon Musk’s Eyebrow-Raising Remark About Dallas Being ‘Too Texas’

Elon Musk had considered multiple locations for the building site of a new Tesla factory, one of which being Dallas.

He ultimately landed on Austin as the best spot.

The factory would ultimately employ more than 12,000 Austin residents, making a major economic impact on the area.

Must reportedly cut cities such as New York or Chicago, which he believed didn’t align with overall vision of the company, and particularly avoided California due to overregulation.

Isaacson’s book wrote of Musk’s team feeling Dallas was simply “too Texas” for the factory, feeling Austin, home of the University of Texas, would be a better fit. (Trending: Illegal Alien Arrested For Disturbing Crime After Biden Release)

Musk had sent a message to top Tesla executive Omead Afshar asking whether he felt Tulsa, Oklahoma or Austin, Texas would be the better fit.

Afshar responded with Austin. Musk then responded, “Okay, great. We’ll do it in Austin and you should run it.”

Musk has made major moves to the Lonestar state, removing his company headquarters from California and taking them to Austin alongside the Tesla factory.

He has since planted SpaceX Starbase, Neuralink, and Boring Company offices in Texas as well. “Everything is bigger in Texas,” including Elon Musk’s investments.
