Florida Governor Ron DeSantis warned possible looters and said they would be risking their lives because “we’re a Second Amendment state.”

DeSantis said, “We are a law and order state, and this is a law and order community. So do not think that you’re going to take advantage of people who’ve suffered misery.”

DeSantis pointed out a sign that read, “You loot, We shoot.”

The warning immediately triggered many liberals.

MSNBC host Joy Reid said DeSantis’ warning to looters in Ian’s aftermath is similar to racist threats from “segregationists.”

Attorney General Ashley Moody added to DeSantis’s statement by saying that anyone arrested for looting would be held in jail without bond.

Moody added, “We are not going to look like Chicago or New York where we’re letting people out in 24 hours so they can go back and loot another home.”

“That will not be tolerated here,” he added.

Hurricane Ian, which was classified as a category 4, hit southern Florida with winds up to 155 mph leaving over one million Floridians without power.

DeSantis was quick to acknowledge the governors who provided support to Florida.

He said, “I want to thank the 26 states that have sent us support, including Tennessee, Virginia, Montana, New York, Colorado, Indiana, New Jersey, and Georgia.”

DeSantis continued, “I just spoke with Kay Ivy from Alabama, and she’s supporting, sending some Blackhawk helicopters down to help.”

“Governor Bill Lee in Tennessee fast-tracked the request that we had from Tennessee. We appreciate that,” he said. “I was also just able to speak with John Bel Edwards from Louisiana.”

“They’ve helped us, but he said, ‘hey, we’ve got a lot of experience in hurricanes recently, so these guys are good, ask us, we want to send more,’ and so we really appreciate that consideration.”
