Texas Mom Shoots Home Invader Through Door Where She And Her Kids Locked Themselves. Sheriff Applauds Her.

The Texas mother and her children were locked in a bedroom when she warned an intruder who was trying to break into her home before she shot him.

The intruder was identified as 36-year-old Carlos Garcia.

A helicopter spotted Garcia with a gunshot wound to his left arm, about 100 yards away in a field.

Officials said that Garcia’s wound was treated, and he was booked into the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center for burglary.

Garcia was held in the detention center until his arraignment.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the crime and asking anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 956-668-TIPS (8477) or submit an anonymous tip through the smartphone application “P3 TIPS.”

Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra said, “You have the right to defend yourself in your own home against an intruder.”

He continued, “I imagine she was in fear for her life…so she did what she had to do, and we support her.

Guerra told KRGV that Garcia and the woman know each other but declined to elaborate on their relationship.

“You don’t have to give notice,” the sheriff added to the station. “If someone’s breaking into your home, you have the right to protect yourself and use deadly force, and you’re not going to have any problem with the sheriff of Hidalgo County.”
