Gaetz Formally Introduces Motion To Remove McCarthy

The end may be near for Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Fellow Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida accuses McCarthy of supporting Joe Biden and the Democrats’ far-left political agenda.

As a result, Gaetz has introduced a motion to remove McCarthy. This will force a vote on whether McCarthy keeps his job. (Trending: The Failures of Joe Biden Are In Full Bloom)

“I rise to give notice of my intent to raise a question of the privileges of the House,” Gaetz said.

“Declaring the office of Speaker of the House of Representatives to be vacant,” Gaetz declared on the floor of the House. The motion will officially appear within the House record within two legislative days of its filing,” he added.

“Speaker McCarthy made an agreement with House conservatives in January and since then he’s been in brazen, repeated material breach of that agreement,” Gaetz said.

“This agreement that he made with Democrats to really blow past a lot of the spending guardrails we set up is a last straw.”

He added, “I do intend to file a motion to vacate against Speaker McCarthy this week. I think we need to rip off the Band-Aid. I think we need to move on with new leadership that will be trustworthy.”

McCarthy reportedly told Gaetz to “bring it on.”

“That’s nothing new,” McCarthy said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“Yes, I’ll survive. You know, this is personal with Matt. Matt voted against the most conservative ability to protect our border, secure our border. He’s more interested in securing TV interviews than doing something.”

He added: “So be it, bring it on. Let’s get over with it and let’s start governing.” (Trending: Climate Hoax, Scientist Admits To Lying)

Gaetz accuses McCarthy of failing in numerous ways. “We have had no vote on term limits or on balanced budgets, as the agreement demanded and required,” Gaetz said about McCarthy’s agreement when becoming Speaker.

“There’s been no full release of the January 6 tapes, as you promised,” Gaetz noted. “There’s been insufficient accountability for the Biden crime family.”

“Instead of cutting spending to raise the debt limit, you relied on budgetary gimmicks and rescissions so that you ultimately ended up serving as the valet to underwrite Biden’s debt and advance his spending agenda,” Gaetz explained.

“Mr. Speaker, you boasted in January that we would use the power of the subpoena and the power of the purse. But here we are eight months later and we haven’t even sent the first subpoena to Hunter Biden.” (Trending: The Failures of Joe Biden Are In Full Bloom)

“That’s how you know that the rushed and, you know, somewhat rattled performance you just saw from the speaker isn’t real. At this point during Democrat control over the House of Representatives, they had already brought in Don Jr. three times,” Gaetz said.

“We haven’t even sent the first subpoena to Hunter Biden. Power of the subpoena. And power of the purse, only thing the 118th Congress is known for at this point is electing Kevin McCarthy speaker and underwriting Biden’s debt and unfortunately there’s only one of those things we can remediate at this time,” he added.

Gaetz concluded, “Our leadership right now is asking us to vote for a continuing resolution, a vote for a continuing resolution is a vote to continue the green new deal, a vote to continue inflationary spending, and the most troubling of fashions, a vote for a continuing resolution is a vote to continue the election interference of Jack Smith.”

Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), said, “He’s been talking to everybody about it. I told him in our caucus, in the Progressive Caucus, we’re not planning to save McCarthy — for a whole host of reasons. And so, we really need to get through the shutdown first.”
