As the chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Menendez held significant political influence, enabling him to raise and distribute crucial campaign donations within the Democratic caucus.

Between 2017 and 2022, Menendez’s campaign committee raised over $16.5 million and retained nearly $6 million in cash.

In the 2022 midterm cycle, his campaign committee and leadership PAC spent approximately $1.5 million, with about 16% ($229,900) going towards contributions to Democratic Senate allies. Approximately $500,000 cash was found at his home.

Apart from contributing to individual campaigns, Senator Bob Menendez’s PAC also provided financial support to Democratic organizations that, in turn, donate to Democratic candidates. (Trending: 8 Undeniable Facts About Joe Biden)

In the 2022 cycle, Menendez made 113 donations amounting to $107,548 to ActBlue. Additionally, he contributed 24 donations totaling $107,005 to Fireside Campaigns.

“We are in process of returning the money in envelopes stuffed with $100 bills,” Joe Calvello, a spokesperson for Sen. John Fetterman said. Menendez also gave Fetterman $5,000 towards his Senate campaign.

Menendez’s alleged misconduct has tainted the Democratic Party, particularly its fundraising apparatus, and prompted calls for his resignation from both within and outside the party.
