Meta, Google, and H&R Block are being sued after allegedly tracking private H&R Block user data, ultimately used for marketing and the strengthening of their algorithms.

A lawyer summed up the offense by saying, “It’s like your income tax guy handing your pay stubs and tax returns over to a marketing firm.”

The three organizations are accused of a “joint scheme” that points to a “pattern of racketeering activity.” (Trending: Trump Makes The Biggest Promise Of His Political Career)

The lawsuit states that the behind-the-scenes partnership has been going on for no less than 8 years, causing many to question what else the tech giants may be tracking without users’ knowledge.

Neither H&R Block nor Facebook (Meta) have been heard from on the matter, but Google responded by declaring that they “have strict policies and technical features that prohibit Google Analytics customers from collecting data that could be used to identify an individual.”

The lead plaintiff, California resident Justin Hunt, says his personal tax data was being “fraudulently intercepted” when he used H&R Block’s software to file his taxes between 2013 and 2018.

The lawsuit seeks full refunds for Hunt and all US taxpayers who used H&R Block’s services since the alleged tracking began.
