A report from real estate data solutions company ATTOM has revealed that the ability to own a home is unattainable for citizens living in 99% of U.S. counties.

The report came not long after Mortgage News Daily revealed that mortgage rates are more than twice what they were when President Joe Biden took office.

30-year fixed home loans hit an average of 7.51 percent a week ago, a number that hasn’t been seen for over 20 years. (Trending: Illegal Immigrant Deported 9 Times Commits Heinous Crime

“It [doubling of rates] contributes to a general sense that the American Dream is out of reach and that if the Democratic Party promises a middle-class American Dream and it’s failing, then I think those voters are more likely to listen to the Republican Party,” stated Brown University political science professor Wendy Schiller.

“The dynamics influencing the U.S. housing market appear to continuously work against everyday Americans, potentially to the point where they could start to have a significant impact on home prices,” added Rob Barber, ATTOM CEO. “[W]ith basic homeownership now soaking up more than a third of average pay, the stage is set for some potential buyers to be priced out, which would reduce demand and the upward pressure on prices,” he stated.

ATTOM’s report revealed that an astounding 574 of 578 counties surveyed found properties to be less affordable than in previous reports, over twice that of just 2 years ago.

“The only people who are selling right now are people who really need to move because of a life event — divorce, marriage, new baby, new job, etc.,” stated Redfin chief economist Daryl Fairweather.
