Following the ousting of Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as House Speaker, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has put his name in the hat to take over the position.

Jordan commented regarding the decision, saying, “I’ve had a lot of people reach out to us, asking me to do it, because I think we can. We’ll see if that happens, but I think I can.”

Jordan has already received the backing of multiple Republican lawmakers. (Poll: Who Should Win the Presidency In 2024? VOTE)

“My first choice if he will run,” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) posted on X.

“My mentor Jim Jordan would be great!” said Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who filed the motion to vacate against McCarthy.

Jordan currently leads as the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

“Now is the time for our Republican conference to come together to keep our promises to Americans,” Jordan said in a letter.

“We can focus on the changes that improve the country and unite us in offering real solutions. But no matter what we do, we must do it together as a conference.”

“I respectfully ask for your support for Speaker of the House of Representatives,” he finished.
