At a college commencement, a transgender activist protested speaker Riley Gaines in a cowardly way.
Gaines, a former University of Kentucky swimmer, has opposed men competing in women’s sports.
During her speech, an administrator draped a trans flag over his shoulders while Gaines spoke but removed it before she turned around.
Gaines called out this action on social media as truly cowardly, done only when she wasn’t looking.
“I just watched back my commencement speech at Adrian College,” Gaines wrote.
“In truly cowardly fashion, the administrator behind me cloaked himself in a trans flag only after I got to the podium and removed it before I turned back around to see. Nonetheless, I got a standing ovation from the graduates and friends + families in attendance. Thanks to Adrian College for the invitation!” she said.
She received a standing ovation nonetheless.
Commenters criticized the protester for opposing Gaines in such a secretive and behind-the-back manner, demonstrating a lack of courage.
“The coward couldn’t even oppose you directly, he had to do it behind your back, in ‘secret.’ What a looooooooser,” one X user wrote.
