CNBC Guest Dies Unexpectedly From Brief Illness

Ben White, a prominent economic journalist who was formerly chief economic correspondent for Politico, passed away at a young age after a brief illness.

Known for his insightful “Morning Money” column analyzing financial and policy issues, White was a distinguished reporter who earned awards for his coverage of the financial crisis while at the New York Times and held roles at top publications like the Financial Times and Washington Post over his career.

White’s unexpected death was announced by his partner Sara in a heartfelt message on social media, noting he was beloved by his family and loved his work in journalism along with his favorite sports teams.

“This is Ben’s partner, Sara,” Sara wrote. “I’m heartbroken to tell you that Ben died on Saturday, June 1 after a brief illness. He loved his family, being a journalist, rooting for the Yankees and the Commanders and so much more. He’ll forever be in my heart and will be missed by so many.”

White leaves behind a lasting legacy as a talented reporter who adeptly bridged the worlds of finance, business, and policy for readers.
