Georgia Court Suspends Trump Trial

via David Pakman

The Georgia Court of Appeals has temporarily halted former President Trump’s criminal trial in Fulton County over alleged election interference pending its review of his appeal to disqualify District Attorney Fani Willis.

Trump’s team claims Willis has a conflict due to her office’s ties to prosecutor Nathan Wade, who led the probe.

“The proceedings below in the Superior Court of Fulton County are hereby stayed pending the outcome of these appeals,” the court filing states.

Oral arguments are set for October, virtually ensuring the trial won’t occur before elections where Trump may run again.

Last year, Trump and others pleaded not guilty to racketeering charges related to efforts to overturn his 2020 loss in Georgia.

Multiple investigations and lawsuits surround Trump on state and federal levels tied to election fraud allegations, classified documents, and the Capitol breach.

Critics argue the cases are politically motivated, while prosecutors maintain their independence.

The appeals court pause represents the latest delay in the legal proceedings that have dogged Trump since leaving office.
