Senator Mitt Romney of Utah stated that he would not support former President Trump in the 2024 election due to concerns about personal character, specifically pointing to allegations of sexual assault against Trump.
Romney attended a meeting with Trump to listen to his plans but emphasized that he did not go to offer support.
“I didn’t go there to support former President Trump. I went there to listen to what he was planning on doing if he became president,” Romney said.
“With President Trump, it’s a matter of personal character,” he said. “I draw a line and say when someone has been actually found to have been sexually assaulted, that’s something I just won’t cross over in the person I wouldn’t want to have as president of the United States.”
This stance aligns with Romney’s long-standing position regarding Trump’s character.
Trump, the current frontrunner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, faced allegations from E. Jean Carroll, leading to legal proceedings and substantial damages awarded to Carroll.
