The son of a Buc-ee’s co-founder was convicted on 21 counts of invasive visual recording for secretly filming bathroom guests at his family’s Texas lake house.
Mitchell Wasek, 28, was indicted by a grand jury on six separate charges pertaining to recordings of 13 victims over two years.
Guests at the lake house had spotted a hidden camera and reported Wasek to authorities in May.
The camera reportedly contained recordings made in bathrooms at the lake house as well as other locations owned by the Waseks, showing people using the bathroom, showering, changing, and having sex without consent.
Travis County DA José Garra said a grand jury heard evidence and determined Wasek’s conduct was unlawful.
“The Travis County District Attorney’s Office takes the work of presenting all facts and evidence to a grand jury very seriously,” Garza said. “In this case, a group of independent Travis County community members heard the evidence and law and decided that Mr. Wasek’s conduct was unlawful.”
Wasek was originally facing 28 counts but was convicted on 21 counts.
