On the first day of the Republican National Convention, former President Donald Trump announced J.D. Vance as his vice-presidential candidate, a move aimed at attracting voters from the Rust Belt.

Vance, a Marine veteran and author of the bestselling memoir “Hillbilly Elegy,” accepted the nomination during the convention, emphasizing his personal journey and commitment to addressing working-class issues.

His memoir explores the struggles of the Appalachian working class and gained significant attention for its insights into social decay and the American Dream, particularly resonating during the 2016 presidential election.
