Doug Emhoff, soon to be the First Gentleman, is embroiled in a scandal following revelations about an affair during his first marriage, which allegedly resulted in the pregnancy of his children’s nanny.
Emhoff confirmed the affair, stating he took responsibility for his actions, but this has created a tense atmosphere at the vice presidential residence, particularly for Kamala Harris, who feels “unnerved and humiliated” as she prepares for her 2024 presidential campaign.
“You know what they say, ‘once a cheater always a cheater,’” one inside source stated. “Of course, Kamala is worrying, not just that he might do it again, but could he have already done it again?”
Sources indicate that the affair’s details have dominated media coverage, causing concern within her campaign.
Emhoff’s previous relationship and its circumstances were known to Joe Biden’s vetting committee when Harris was selected as a running mate, and he disclosed the affair to Harris before their marriage.

“During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times on account of my actions. I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side,” Emhoff said in a statement provided to CNN.
“Doug and I decided to end our marriage for a variety of reasons, many years ago,” Kerstin said. “He is a great father to our kids, continues to be a great friend to me and I am really proud of the warm and supportive blended family Doug, Kamala, and I have built together.”
The nanny involved reportedly did not keep the child, and while some reports suggest a miscarriage, the situation has prompted significant scrutiny and concern about its impact on Harris’s political image.
