Kamala’s Brother-in-Law, Who Defended a Terrorist, Joins Team

via Sky News

Vice President Kamala Harris has appointed her brother-in-law Tony West, a former attorney for the Obama Justice Department, as an adviser for her presidential campaign.

West is noted for defending John Walker Lindh, the “American Taliban,” who was captured in Afghanistan and subsequently indicted for aiding the Taliban and al-Qaeda.

“He is not a terrorist,” West said regarding Lindh. “He did not go to Afghanistan to kill Americans.”

Harris’s campaign, which has been fast-tracked by the Democratic National Committee despite her lack of primary votes, also sees the addition of David Plouffe, a key strategist from Obama’s campaigns, as a senior adviser.

This appointment has led to criticism regarding the speed of Harris’s endorsement, which some argue disregards the 14 million Democrats who supported Biden in the primaries.
