Democrats Fear Overconfidence Will Destroy Harris Campaign

via CNN

Democrats are expressing concerns that Vice President Kamala Harris’s current overconfidence may undermine her campaign as the November elections approach.

Strategists acknowledge that Harris will face scrutiny regarding her record and potential challenges, such as unexpected scandals or crises, typical of presidential campaigns.

“Every presidential campaign in modern history has had to go through an unanticipated scandal, crisis or world event, and at some point, that political law is going to happen to Kamala Harris’s campaign,” former President Obama strategist Fernand Amandi said.

“Anyone who is measuring the drapes at the White House needs a serious reality check,” he added.

While polls show that Harris has made gains against former President Donald Trump, experts have cautioned against complacency given the close nature of the race and the undecided voters who could sway the outcome.

Notably, a significant portion of registered Democrats and independents are unfamiliar with Harris’s controversial positions, which could impact her appeal, especially among midwestern and swing state voters.

“Democrats are rightfully elated with the trajectory of the Harris-Walz campaign,” Democrat strategist Tim Hogan said. “But anyone politically conscious over the last decade — especially Democrats — knows that terrain can shift and events beyond our control can quickly change the nature of elections.”

“So we come into this with a ton of well-earned anxiety that all the polls in the world can’t entirely dissipate,” Democrat strategist Christy Setzer said. “It all looks good, but trust us when say we take nothing for granted.”

Additionally, Trump’s popularity appears to have strengthened since previous elections, and enthusiasm for voting among Republican supporters has risen, presenting a challenging landscape for Harris as she moves forward in her campaign.
