The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is the process of carrying out a civil antitrust lawsuit against Google, claiming the company has monopolized search and search advertising. This lawsuit, supported by a bipartisan group of 17 states, alleges that Google has employed unlawful tactics to stifle competition and prevent rivals from growing.
Simultaneously, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has enlisted the help of a key attorney defending Google in the lawsuit in order to prepare for the debate against former President Donald Trump.
The clear conflict of interests suggests Google, which regularly demonstrates a heavy liberal bias, will face favorable conditions under a Harris administration.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan raised concerns that Karen Dunn, Google’s lead attorney, is also preparing Harris for her debate against Donald Trump.
This dual role could introduce political bias into the DOJ’s case, which accuses Google of anticompetitive practices.
Jordan has requested a briefing from Attorney General Merrick Garland to address these concerns and ensure the integrity of the lawsuit.
This situation adds to Republican worries about Big Tech’s influence and the Biden-Harris Administration’s relationship with tech companies.
