Rising tensions in the Democratic Party are expected intensify in the coming weeks. The friction has come as key figures have voiced their criticisms of President Biden.
Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff recently attempted to distance the Vice President from Biden’s record. Emhoff claimed that Harris would largely continue Biden’s policies if elected president, but also deflected blame for Biden’s perceived failures.
“So, for those who may criticize [Harris] and say ‘Well, she hasn’t done that [in] her three-and-a-half years in office as vice president.’ Do you think that’s unfair?” Emhoff was asked.
“Yeah, she’s the vice president, not the president,” Emhoff said.
“The vice president is there as part of the administration, not leading the administration. So, as president she’s gonna be able to put forth her policies and plans and effectuate those,” Emhoff added.
The seemingly contradictory message has continued to sparked debate among Democrats.
Trump has consistently argued that Biden does not fully support Harris, and that their partnership is strained.
The dynamics between Biden and Harris have remained complex, and some believe it could lead to a dangerous outcome in the 2024 election.
