Kamala Harris is looking to present herself as a patriotic leader similar to that of Ronald Reagan in her campaign against Trump. Harris recently stated that America represents a “shining city upon a hill.”
“As imperfect as we may be, America is still that shining city upon a hill that inspires people around the world,” Harris said.
“We know the deep privilege and pride that comes with being an American and what it means to love our country. And we will continue to fight for the ideals of our country,” Harris added.
The shift has been seen as a tactic to mask her leftist views and address concerns regarding her campaign’s viability.
“There’s a good reason why we haven’t seen Kamala Harris out campaigning in some of these key battleground states like Montana and Ohio, because Kamala Harris is the most liberal candidate running for president the Democrat Party has ever nominated,” Senator Steve Daines said.
Critics argued that Harris’ actions are insincere merely reflective of her desperation to win the election.
