CNN Turns on Harris After Disastrous Town Hall

A CNN anchor recently assessed Vice President Kamala Harris’ town hall, admitting that her performance fell short. Following the event, a left-leaning panel discussed whether Harris connected with undecided voters, noting doubts from campaign advisors regarding her effectiveness.

“I’ll just tell you what I’m hearing from people I’ve been talking to, and that is that if her goal was to close the deal, they’re not sure she did that,” CNN’s Dana Bash said.

“And, you know, some people are asking ‘Is she being held to a different standard?’ Maybe, but that’s maybe the world that she’s living in,” Bash added.

Harris has struggled to define herself amid shifting policy positions from her time in the U.S. Senate.

“On the question of who she is, people are understanding that a little bit more, but what she will do — the question about her legislative priorities, name one — there wasn’t one,” Bash said. “Some more of her personality and her character, sort of your weaknesses or what mistakes did you make… not necessary the answers there.”

The town hall was intended to help Harris re-engage the media after a prolonged absence from public interactions. Analysts, however, noted that any initial goodwill Harris had has diminished as she continues to remain silent on policy.

Harris especially stumbled when asked about her regrets in office.

The missteps have raised concerns among aides, as her public appearances have often led to gaffes and a struggle to answer simple questions.
