MTG Silences Woke Reporter In Heated Exchange

House Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene engaged in a tense exchange with Alex Lawson, the executive director of Strengthen Social Security, regarding Social Security matters in Congress. During the exchange, Greene accused Lawson of being a partisan campaigner and dismissed his questions, throwing a campaign mailer to the floor.

Lawson was trying to get Greene to commit to not cutting Social Security and Medicare, referencing a Trump mailer that promised no cuts to these programs.

Greene refused to take the pledge, asserting that Republicans had already committed to protecting Social Security. Greene stated, “You are one controversial ad funded by Democrats who donate to Democrats.”

Greene said, “We all campaigned on protecting your Social Security. You can’t lie about it.”

Greene said, “This is your political agenda,” adding, “And guess what? The sad story for you is the American people elected Trump, his agenda, and Republicans to lead the country because you guys suck so bad.”

Lawson later criticized Greene’s actions, suggesting they reflect how Republicans view campaign promises regarding Social Security. Lawson said, “When I tried to hand Representative Greene Donald Trump’s mailer that he sent to millions of households promising not to cut Social Security and Medicare, she refused to affirm she would keep his promise.”

Lawson added, “I wasn’t asking for a lot, just for her to say I will do what President Trump said he wanted, no cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid.”

Lawson concluded, “Not only did she refuse, she ripped the Trump mailers out of my hands and threw them on the floor in disgust. I think that is a very visual explanation of how the Republicans in Congress view the promises made during the campaign, worthless garbage.”
