Initial Confirmation Hearings Announced for Trump’s Cabinet Selections

On January 14, the Senate is set to conduct confirmation hearings for President-elect Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees, with particular attention on Pete Hegseth, who is nominated for Defense secretary, and Pam Bondi, nominated for attorney general.

The Senate Armed Services Committee will host Hegseth, while the Senate Judiciary Committee, led by Chuck Grassley, will conduct Bondi’s hearing first.

Republicans aim to advance their policy agenda, but both nominees are expected to face tough questioning from Democrats concerned about conflicts of interest and qualifications.

Bondi has received support from the Fraternal Order of Police, highlighting her previous work as Florida’s attorney general.

Additional hearings for other nominees will follow, setting a contentious tone for Trump’s presidency.

Patrick Yoes, the national president of the Fraternal Order of Police, said, “On behalf of the more than 377,000 members of the Fraternal Order of Police, I commend your selection of Ms. Bondi to serve as Attorney General, and we look forward to resuming our partnership with you and your Administration.”
