Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, took to Instagram to discuss her feelings following Harris’ concession speech after Donald Trump’s win.
She clarified that her tears were not a sign of a mental breakdown, countering rumors about her hospitalization.
Emhoff expressed that it’s okay to show emotion and shared her struggles with mental health, emphasizing that she has been focusing on her dog since the election.
“Truly no words. We are all going to get through this. It just [expletive] hurts like a [expletive] right now and that’s ok,” the post read.
“There’s a rumor about me having a mental breakdown and getting checked into a hospital. Not true. Also [expletive] you if you’re out there spreading that. There’s nothing wrong with showing emotion and crying. Anyone who says there is probably needs a good cry,” Emhoff said in an Instagram post.
“I’ve struggled with my mental health my whole life, and I’m not ashamed of it,” she added.
She also previously faced controversy for promoting a Palestinian fundraiser.
